Tinside Monday 21st July marked the official opening of the new spaces at Tinside Lido.

This project was made possible thanks to:

  • The National Lottery Fund
  • The UK Government Investment
  • Plymouth City Council

Over the past 12 months, delivery partners — Nevada Construction, LHC Design, Currie and Brown, Airey and Coles, and Service Design Solutions — have worked together to restore and revitalise previously unused spaces at Tinside Lido.

Tinside Lido is an iconic landmark on Plymouth’s waterfront — a celebrated example of Art Deco design and a beloved symbol of the city’s coastal heritage. Its unique setting, overlooking Plymouth Sound, has made it a destination not just for swimmers, but for visitors from all over the UK and beyond.

The newly opened areas allow us to offer even more to the community. These flexible, accessible spaces can now be used by local youth teams for training, workshops, and activities. We are also proud to open our doors for community events, weddings, and large-scale poolside gatherings, helping to cement Tinside’s role as a vibrant hub of life, culture, and celebration in Plymouth.

While we’re expanding what’s possible here, swimming remains at the heart of everything we do. Tinside Lido continues to be a cherished open-air swimming destination, where people of all ages can enjoy the benefits of exercise, fresh air, and connection to the sea.

Working with Plymouth Sound National Marine Park, we’re also proud to host Swim Safe sessions throughout August, teaching young people and adults how to safely interact with cold water and helping create confident custodians of the Sound. Along the journey we recognise the importance of improving our communication and platform, for more information on everything we now offer, please visit www.tinsidelido.co.uk which has been updated with live swimming timetables, information on our new spaces and a what’s on page for special public events.
