An Unmatched Atmosphere
Both routes are designed to showcase why Plymouth is known as Britain’s Ocean City. Whether you are tackling the Half or the 10K, the final stretch along the seafront provides one of the most breathtaking finish line backdrops in the UK. Every finisher is rewarded with a commemorative medal and the sense of achievement that comes with conquering these historic streets.

The Route
The Plymouth Half Marathon: A Grand City Circuit
The Plymouth Half Marathon offers a spectacular 13.1 mile journey that blends the city’s rich maritime history with the tranquillity of the Devon countryside. Starting and finishing on the Plymouth Hoe Promenade, runners are greeted with panoramic views across the Sound before heading through the city centre. The route takes you past the historic Barbican and follows the Embankment toward the Saltram Estate. Participants will enjoy a picturesque loop through these National Trust grounds, before crossing the Laira Bridge and heading back toward the harbour for a grand finish.
The Plymouth 10K: Fast, Flat, and Scenic
For those seeking a personal best or a shorter challenge, the Plymouth 10K delivers an exhilarating course that captures the best of the waterfront. Like the Half, the 10K begins on the Hoe, but focuses its energy on a flatter, faster layout through the heart of the city and along the seafront. Runners will pass notable landmarks including the Royal Citadel, The Barcode, and Smeaton’s Tower.
