About The Role

We are seeking School Swimming Partnership Manager to lead, develop, and oversee the School Swimming programme within Plymouth Active Leisure. The role manages the day to day of our school swimming programme focusing on building strong relationships with our local schools. The role will support the Head of Aquatics in efficient delivery of the programme to ensure KPIs are met.

Salary: £29,187 – £30,790 FTE
Contract: Part-Time, 20 hours per week
Term Time (42 weeks per year)
Department: Aquatics, Plymouth Life Centre

Key Responcibilities

Role Outcomes

– Maximise all opportunities to develop and grow the School Swimming programme
– To advocate the National Curriculum and highlight the importance of working with the schools to meet the Ofsted requirements for School Swimming
– Lead and build a rapport nurturing strong relationships with Schools and the School Sports Partnership
– To act all times in accordance with company policies relating to Safeguarding, Equality and Health & Safety
– Consistently follow PAL’s health and safetynpolicies, safe systems of work and operational procedures
– Demonstrate commitment to Plymouth Active Leisure’s core values: Honesty, Empathy, Accountability, Respect, and Teamwork
– Undertake any other reasonable tasks as requested by Plymouth Active Leisure

Programme Leadership and
Management

– Lead and manage the Plymouth Active School Swimming programme, ensuring structured, inclusive lessons that uphold the Swim England School Swimming Water Safety Charter
– Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and swimmer progress
– Oversee the day-to-day running of the programme and line manage the School Swimming Team

Mentoring & Reporting

– Track swimmer progress, attendance, and attainment, preparing reports to identify opportunities for early intervention and pilots supporting National Curriculum pass rates
– Support the Head of Aquatics with reporting to key stakeholders
– Manage the Go Learn School Swimming system effectively, supporting its initial rollout

Partnership Development

– Build and sustain positive, long-term relationships with schools
– Identify and pursue opportunities to establish new partnerships with educational institutions and external parties
– Attend internal and external meetings, groups, and committees as directed by the Head of Aquatics
– Deliver water safety talks at school assemblies to promote awareness and education

Teaching Quality & Mentoring

– Monitor teaching quality through observations and feedback, highlighting professional development needs
– Lead recruitment, induction, management, and development of employees in line with company policy

Essential Skills & Experience

– Passion for Swimming and a strong desire to help swimmers achieve their goals.
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
– Willingness to adapt and support the programmes needs, including additional training
sessions
– Knowledge of safeguarding and health and safety in aquatic environments
– Excellent organisational and administration skills
– An initiative-taker, driven, and innovative
– Ability to prioritise workload and be initiative-taking
– Effective written and verbal communication and relationship building capabilities
– Be confident and willing to engage with the workforce and partners to complete tasks as required

Desirable Experience

– In depth knowledge of the Gladstone & Go Learn systems
– Knowledge and understanding of the National Curriculum Key Stage 2 Standard outcomes for Swimming
– Experience in managing teams
– Experience of working in data analysis

Essential Qualifications

A level 2 or equivalent Swim Teacher or ability to achieve within the first 6-months
