We are seeking a School Swimming Partnership Manager to lead, develop, and oversee the School Swimming programme within Plymouth Active Leisure. The role manages the day-to-day running of our school swimming programme focusing on building strong relationships with our local schools.
The role will support the Head of Aquatics in efficient delivery of the programme to ensure KPIs are met.

Job Description

The School Swimming Programme Lead is responsible for driving the growth, quality, and impact of Plymouth Active’s School Swimming programme.

This role oversees the planning, delivery, and performance of school swimming lessons, ensuring alignment with the National Curriculum and the Swim England School Swimming Water Safety Charter.

A key focus is building strong partnerships with schools and stakeholders, supporting high teaching standards, and ensuring the safety and progress of all participants.

The post-holder will manage the School Swimming Team, oversee day‑to‑day programme operations, track pupil outcomes, and support reporting to internal and external partners.

They will champion water safety education, advocate the importance of School Swimming to schools and partners, and ensure full compliance with Plymouth Active Leisure’s policies, values, and operational procedures.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Passion for swimming and helping pupils achieve key milestones.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative abilities.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work proactively.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and health & safety within aquatic environments.
  • Confidence in engaging with staff, schools, and partners.
  • Adaptability and willingness to support programme needs, including additional training sessions.
  • Initiative-driven, innovative, and capable of building effective relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Knowledge of Gladstone and Go Learn systems.
  • Understanding of National Curriculum Key Stage 2 swimming outcomes.
  • Experience managing teams.
  • Experience working with data and reporting.

Essential Qualifications

  • Swim England Level 2 (or equivalent) Swim Teacher qualification or willingness to achieve within 6 months.

Location: Plymouth Life Centre

Hours: Part Time / Term Time (42 weeks per year)

Salary: £29,187- £30,790 FTE
