Active Health Programme
Plymouth Active Leisure Active Health Programme aims to motivate individuals who are currently inactive to participate in physical activities to enhance their health and wellbeing. It particularly focuses on those dealing with long-term health issues, mental health difficulties, and feelings of loneliness and isolation, among other concerns.
The Active Health Programme operates on a referral-only basis, collaborating closely with local GP practices and social prescribers to effectively target the appropriate audience. Recently, we have partnered with Devon Mind and Livewell Southwest Mental Health Community Service, both of which will now be submitting referrals to the programme.
Swim England Water Wellbeing Accreditation
Plymouth Life Centre has been awarded the Swim England Water Wellbeing Accreditation, recognising our commitment to making swimming accessible for everyone. The accreditation provides staff with training, resources, and support to better understand the customer experience and tailor aquatic sessions to meet the needs of people with long-term health conditions.
Dr Hussain Al-Zubaidi, a Royal College of General Practitioners lifestyle and physical activity champion, said: “Making our swimming pools accessible is vital to help support our nation moving. Venues need to be inclusive and welcoming.”
We are proud to have made significant enhancements to our facilities as we approach full attainment of this important accreditation.
