Accessibility Statement
Plymouth Active Website Accessibility Statement
This statement applies to content published on the www.plymouthactive.co.uk domain.
This website is run by Plymouth City Council. It is designed to be used by as many people as possible. The text should be clear and simple to understand. You should be able to:
- Zoom in up to 200% without the text spilling off the screen
- Navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- Navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
- Use most of the website using a screen reader
- View any videos that we add to this website, ensuring they are accessible to all with audio or written alternatives available where required
- Read or listen to transcripts of pre-recorded audio files.
- Access our accessibility toolbar for assistance in language translation, colour schemes, audio playback, search, zoom, dictionary, ruler and text only view.
- View and understand content where we use colour. We will ensure that the colours used have a sufficient colour contrast and users have the ability to change colour schemes through our accessibility toolbar.
- We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
We are committed to ensuring the accessibility of our website for all users. However, we have identified an area that may present challenges for some users:
Embedded Maps:
The interactive map is embedded as an iframe, which can limit control and affect how users interact with it. The map currently uses colour combinations that may be difficult to distinguish for users with visual impairments. Additionally, navigating the map via keyboard requires multiple Tab key presses, which may impact ease of use for some users. While the map is functional, we recognise that improvements in colour contrast, keyboard navigation, and interaction within the iframe could enhance accessibility, and we are exploring solutions to address these issues.
We continuously strive to improve our website’s accessibility and welcome feedback to help us achieve this goal.
