It’s easy to join our lessons! We teach pupils from as young as three months old, right though to adults. Everyone can build skills, confidence, and have fun in the water.

Whether you’re taking your first dip or perfecting your strokes, our lessons are designed for all ages and abilities. From tiny tots just starting their water journey to adults looking to boost confidence, technique, and fitness, there’s something for everyone. Children attending swimming lessons at Plymouth Life Centre and Plympton Swimming Pool also enjoy unlimited access to public swimming and fun pool sessions. With friendly instructors, structured programmes, and a focus on fun, learning to swim has never been easier – or more enjoyable!

From baby and children, to adults we offer a variety of different swimming programmes designed to build confidence, improve technique, and make learning fun.
Baby, Toddler and Pre School Swimming Lessons
from £34.50 per month
Our Baby, Toddler and Pre School swimming lessons start for are children from 3 months to 4 years old. These lessons help build water confidence in a fun and supportive environment. The introduction is provided through songs, games, and support, and they aim to promote water confidence whilst offering a social environment for both adults and children. Adults are required in the water for our baby and toddler swimming lessons.

Children's Swimming Lessons
from £34.50 per month
Following the Swim England Learn to Swim Frame, these lessons start from 4 years old. The Swim England Learn to Swim Framework helps children build confidence in the water, laying the foundation for a lifelong enjoyment of swimming. Each stage encourages young swimmers to develop their skills, building both confidence and competence in the water!

SEND Swimming Lessons
from £34.50 per month
Our Small group lessons are the perfect lessons designed for children with additional needs. We follow the Swim England Alpha Step Awards are designed to build confidence in learners who may need additional support during swimming lessons, focusing on essential water skills and safety. An Adult is required in the water for these sessions.

Rookie Lifeguard
We run the RLSS UK’s Rookie Lifeguard Pool programme which enables children to learn valuable water safety skills in a fun, engaging, educational, and social swimming pool environment.
The programme teaches children interchangeable skills that help build their confidence, promote teamwork, and foster leadership skills. Rookie Pool Lifeguards also develop the basic survival, rescue and lifesaving skills that will empower them to respond effectively in emergency.
Children must be able to Swim atleast 25M and be confident in deep water.

Adult Beginner
These classes give you an introduction to the pool, helping to build your confidence in the water alongside learning basic aquatic skills. These classes take place in shallow water, helping you build confidence in safety.
Adult Improver
With the goal of you managing to swim a short distance, this element of our adult swimming lessons helps you to develop your confidence both in and around the water.
Adult Advance
Improve your stamina and stroke technique and gain confidence swimming in deeper water. The goal for these lessons is to support you to swim distances of up to 50 metres on your front and back with good technique.
Your Home Portal
Our students and parents benefit from the Go Learn Home Portal, offering a convenient and easy way for swimmers and parents to stay connected with their swimming progress at Plymouth Active Leisure.
Through the portal, you can track achievements, monitor lesson attendance, view upcoming classes, and check skill progress in real time. It also allows you to manage bookings, update personal details, and make payments securely online — all in one place. Whether you’re keeping an eye on your child’s development or following your own swimming journey, the Home Portal helps you stay informed and engaged every step of the way.’
