Aquatics GB Elite Junior Diving Championships Return!!
Aquatics GB Elite Junior Diving Championships Return to Plymouth Life Centre in April 2025
Aquatics GB Elite Junior Diving Championships will be returning to the Plymouth Life Centre in 2025, bringing together the country’s most talented young divers for four days of exhilarating competition. Taking place from 10th-13th April, this prestigious event will see athletes competing for national age-group titles, as well as spots on the team for June’s European Junior Diving Championships in Athens, Greece.
Rhys Jones, CEO of Plymouth Active Leisure, expressed his excitement about the event’s return: “We are excited to welcome the Elite Junior Diving Championships back to Plymouth. Hosting world-class events like this is a priority for the Plymouth Life Centre, and we’re proud to support the development of the next generation of elite divers by investing in young people and nurturing the vibrant diving community here in Plymouth.”
The championships will feature individual events from the 1m springboard, as well as both individual and synchronised events from the 3m springboard and platform categories, with competitors divided into three age groups.
- Group A: 16-18 years
- Group B: 14-15 years
- Group C: 9-13 years
The event serves as a vital stepping stone for young divers on their journey to international success. Notably, several 2024 champions went on to make their mark on the global stage, including Hannah Newbrook, who claimed bronze in the 10m Synchro at the World Junior Diving Championships, and Robbie Wood and Skye Fisher-Eames, who secured European Junior titles in their respective platform events.
Councillor Sue Dann, Plymouth City Council cabinet member with responsibility for sport and leisure, said: “It’s fantastic to be welcoming the Aquatics GB Elite Junior Diving Championships back to Plymouth. This is a really exciting showcase of the country’s best young talent and testament to the Life Centre’s standing as a leading facility for training and supporting emerging athletes. We look forward to a weekend of impressive diving displays.”
Jen Leeming, Aquatics GB Diving Performance Pathway Lead, shared her thoughts,
“We are looking forward to returning to Plymouth for our Aquatics GB Elite Junior Diving Championships – a venue that always provides a fantastic backdrop to our major events. After a historic year for our senior divers in 2024, the season ahead is a great chance for some of the British diving stars of the future to shine, and this competition will serve as a key selection meet for the team heading to the European Junior Championships in Athens in June.
“As well as that, this event remains a valuable opportunity for our junior divers to put into practice the skills and techniques they have worked on with such commitment in training, competing against the best in their age group and at a venue that has helped develop so much talent in the past.”
